Section 2
Recognising The Pattern
The core of the pattern I have distilled is a lunar calendar. It is rooted in a cycle of death, rebirth and rise of the sun, guided by the ever changing moon. The pattern crops up in its simplest forms depicting merely the transformation from winter to summer sun and back, all the way to forming (the backdrop of) calendars that help with early agriculture and pinpointing hunting seasons for various animals. It occurs in all the cultures I have looked at that exist from 10.000 BC to 2000 BC from Namibia to Peru, from Siberia to Scotland. Local flavor influences the expression of the morphologies of the pattern but the handful of components that make up the pattern can often easily be identified.
Lets see if I can tell a sensible story and convey the journey of discovery I have had.
